Stainless-Steel Gas Struts for Dock Boxes & Hatches
Replace worn out plain steel gas lift shocks with corrosion resistant stainless steel.
Ideal for use in the saltwater marine environment, these stainless steel shocks are constructed of 316 stainless steel and have been specially treated to protect against rust and corrosion. Shocks have a female fitting at each end designed to snap on to a 10mm ball fitting. Brackets (with ball fittings) sold separately.
Similar to the expanding rods used in the automotive industry, they consist of a gas cylinder and piston assembly that allows the rod to expand as doors or hatches open, and collapse as they close. The gas cylinders of shocks installed on new boats typically have a life of about five years. After that, there is no more “spring” left in the rod and boat owners are forced to manually lift and prop open covers. Taylor Made’s new line of gas shocks are intended to replace the installed rods once the viability of the gas cylinders on the original shocks have expired.
Rated capacity of these shocks is the pounds of force exerted when the gas spring is in the fully open or extended position. Where use as a hatch cover support is desired, we recommend you base your selection upon the recommendation of the hatch manufacturer. Sold individually.
