Easy install. Comes with ample tough cable (20ft). If more length is needed, there is a 20ft extension cable - Icom part # OPC-1541. I placed this mic at the lower helm and ran it from an Icom M506 on the upper helm. I generally pilot from the upper helm station. The commandMic has the functionality of the upper helm unit and has an intercom feature so I can communicate with my wife when she's below. Now I can check in and make sure she's ok and order up a sandwich at the same time...

This CommandMic is a big improvement over the previous version I had (CommandMic III with my M412). I replaced my M412 and CommandMic III with the M424 and CommandMic IV, and WOW what an improvement! This CommandMic IV allows me to handle DSC calls from the helm in a very easy manner. Try that with previous radios!
