Why does my FLIR ONE have two cameras?
Raw thermal images are beautiful, however, they don't provide too much physical detail. So the FLIR ONE blends both images using MSX Technology, providing physical detail to the raw thermal reading. With MSX Technology, the FLIR ONE captures what nothing else can.
LEPTON™ CAMERA
This is the camera that allows the FLIR ONE to take a thermal reading. Smaller than a dime, it's the most compact long-wave infrared sensor available.
STANDARD CAMERA
Every time you capture a thermal reading with the FLIR ONE, you are also taking a standard picture. This picture will provide physical detail to the raw thermal reading.

Does this work at night like the self-contained, handheld units? If so, how does it compare, e.g. range? Thanks.

- Verified Reply - West Marine Customer ServiceYes, the FLIR ONE Thermal Camera for Android will work at night. I contacted the Experts at Raymarine and they said, We've never really published detection ranges for the FLIR ONE product line. One of the reasons is the camera uses our MSX technology – which mixes both a visible and thermal camera. This makes some visible light come into play, since it can outline objects, etc. I would say it starts to lose its effectiveness around 30 feet. The bottom line is the camera has limited range and is not suitable for navigation or search and rescue. It is designed as more of a diagnostic tool to find electrical hot spots, water leaks, etc. around the house and boat.Was this answer helpful to you

I use a thermal camera to locate studs in a wall. I locate the studs then use the laser pointer to mark the wall to drill under the fire block and between the studs. Does this devise come with a laser pointer lite?
